It is an interesting perspective, developing games for healthcare. From the patient’s perspective, it could be the first time after theme hospital or hospital hustle to enter hospital from a different perspective. It could bes used to prepare patients to certain medical procedures, which are difficult to explain. Apparently computerprogramms are able to explain complex medical problems sufficiently to patients even with low health literacy. Of course legal basic conditions must be considered.
The advantages of games in healthcare from the market point of view also were recognized by pharmaceutical industry. The following article concludes the reasons why games could make theri way int the field of serious medical applications, especially when they focus on the foowing key features:

Interessanter Artikel der FAZ auch zu Bologna, wie geht es weiter und wie stellt man sich auf.Gut, dass die Humanmediziner und solange gewartet haben und aus den Fehlern der anderen Fächer lernen können. Frau Schavan hat ja mittlerweile selbst eingesehen, dass es starken Nachbesserungsbedarf gibt.

Interesting article from the German F.A.Z. journal about games in general and the differences of games in contrast to films and reality and the ability to manipulate reality in fantasy throug games. Unfortunately in german. It is defined as cultural phenomenon and innovation.

Elearning in 5 years – new article online

I had to contribute to a newspaper online article about what eLearning will be in five years, by the way I hate the word eLearning. It will meanwhile be replaced by new buzz words like “serious games” and others but anyway it will develop in antoher direction. From my personal point of view the so called net-generation will take over learning and will shape learning environments and learning habitudes as well. I could imagine, that LMS like Blackboard will still exist but learning will take place at other environments, as it happens alright now.
